The RMS Curra Swans will take on a new look when they take the field in the 2010 AFL Townsville Premiership.
The traditional Sydney Swans jumper has been worn at Muldoon Oval since 2002 with the sides wearing navy blue shorts to incorporate the 3 colours of the Club.
Club President Scot Beynon said the decision was made to bring the navy blue back to the jumper to recognize all 3 colours of the Club that represent the Clubs history. Curra Swans was born out of a merger between Townsville Swans and Currajong Blues and the newly merged Club became known as Curra Swans with the clubs colours being red, white and navy blue.
Beynon said the new design was made in consultation with players and members and the jumpers will be worn in round 1.
All junior teams will also be wearing the jumper once they arrive. Initially it was just the senior sides that were going to wear them this season with all junior sides to wear them from 2011, however with the Clubs successful sponsorship drive the decision to purchase all the juniors jumpers was made.
The new jumpers are another step in the transformation of the Club that coincides with having a new senior coach, new signings, new sponsors and most of importantly a new clubhouse. Stay tuned for further details on the clubhouse.
