The Bear Facts
The senior game started at a cracking pace and
most of the good work in the first quarter was coming from the Swans who were
putting pressure on the Hawk’s at every contest. Nealo had put the screws on
Phil Burger and was doing a top job.
Good players all over the ground and the 1st
quarter scores reflected this.
The Hawks went up a notch in the second and it
showed on the board at half time.
At times the Swans were kicking into the forward
lines more in hope than anticipation.
Hawks 6-6 to Swans 4-3 at half time.
The third quarter the Hawks set a rolling zone and
we never seemed to get on top of it. They rebounded effortlessly off their half
back line and whilst it was good disciplined footy from them we were again
blazing away in hope.
Even so at three quarter time with the scores
Hawks 8-11 to Swans 5-3 there was still a chance if we were good enough.
We weren’t and they ran away in the last quarter
with little or no pressure applied from the Swans.
It was terribly disheartening for all but as
normal there were some good players.
Adam Mac showed size means nothing and Doyley
knows only one way.
Darcy R showed some fight along with Tails.
Reece had his moments and would be better if he
could kick with his right foot as well, Jayd played in patches, the new boy
Alan Moloney went in hard and will get better.
Max had an interesting duel against Hawk no 12
who marks well and Shawy, Callam, Blair and Brod all had moments.
Final disappointing Score Hawks 16-16 to Curra
Swans 5-3.
It must be worrying for the coaching staff that
in two games we have not been able to score in three quarters out of eight.
