SWANS V MASTERS
"The Bear Facts"
Although this was a no points game playing against the mouldy Oldies
there was nothing left in the petrol tank from either side. These
Masters blokes might be getting on but when they cross the line they
hold nothing back and the white line fever takes over.
They showed that against our ressies who were made up from under
seventeens, some ressies, some golden oldies a couple of senior
ringins, and a certain young bloke who worse for wear from a hard
Saturday night spent more time going for the big spit rather than the
big speckky, that they could still play a bit.
The Bear broke into a cold sweat and retired quickly to the Taj
Mahal when the ressies were at one stage short of players and glances
were being directed in his direction.
Then we had our perrenial Foxxy who couldn't make up his mind who to
play for so he played for both teams. He had to sign a contract not to
give away both teams team plan.
MadDog took the field and stood Nudge( who was as happy as a pig in
poo about Richmond's one and only win), the Bear thought the matchup of
the day, but Maddog turned out slower than an Antarctic night.
Trevor Rial every time he puts on the Currajong jumper grows a foot
and turns back the clock (thinks he's playing for Caaaaarlton) and then
limps around for a week after.
Probably most dissapointing was the amount of Ressies who didn't turn up.
Lloyd came on with half a bottle of sunscreen rubbed on his noggin
and when he called the trainer out to send for an umberella it was time
to come off.
Whilst the scores were not important it was a close game and the
Bear wishes good luck and all the best to the masters who are playing
in the NQ Masters tournament on the Queen's birthday weekend. Being as
its played here in Townsville the Bear will be having a look.
Real special thanks to the ump and his gang who took time out of their Sunday to come down and officiate.
This is hard coming from the Bear, but he umpired sensibly which you
need to do with some of the older bloked who start to think their
twenty again, good stuff!
Highlight of the umpiring when the young lass throwing the ball in
at the boundary throw ins and with a strong wind blowing straight
across the oval had to have several goes because the wind continuosally
took the ball and blew it straight up in the air back to her. To her
credit she percevered with the desired result coming.
Nice to see the ump's having a drink after with the players.
A few ales and scotches after the game finished off an enjoyable morning.
The Bear would like to see a few more of these games, no pressure and a bit of good footy and a bit of socialising after.
