Welcome to 2011 season.
The year has started wet. Now nobody needs to be told that, but you can see why we mention it with the length of the grass and the water lying around.
Top that off with Cyclone Yasi and its easy to see why things have been a bit skew whiff as seen by the absence of a couple of goalposts, but as is normal people have come forward and offered help and things are starting to take on an even keel. We can do with more help so don’t be afraid to put up your hand in 2011.
This has not stopped good numbers turning up for our second sign on and the couple of training nights so far. Training is on soon for our 8-s, 10-s and 12 year olds starting on the first Wed. in March and we look forward to improving our numbers in these age groups.
We require a coach for our under 8-s, anybody who needs a challenge here it is.
Auskick has started at the Southern Cross School and its great to see three of our long standing under 18-s in Aiden Johnson, Shane Lindgren and Brett Carlin putting their hands up to help out with the ankle biters. The under 10-s will be coached and umpired we might add by Brent Doyle and the under 12-s will be ably coached by Jason Dennis better known as JJ. Under 14-s and 16-s start this Thursday evening under coaches Scot Beynon and Bob Hillier and it is anticipated that good numbers will be on the training track even so there is still room for players, so if any body knows any boys willing to give AFL a go now is their chance.
This season we are proud to announce that Dean Buckman has put his hand up to be our Junior Development Officer and Dean’s input is already being felt around the club.
The junior committee would like to welcome Graeme and Donna Hynes back and we think we’ve persuaded Lee to suit up for the Swannies again. After a three year absence in Brisbane Graeme will be a welcome sight around the place as he is always willing to help when ever he can. We welcome all our previous players back and a big welcome to all new players and their parents. Enjoy your season with the Mighty Swans Bear
