The Bear who has been in hibernation came out for the big netball challenge. As umpire in charge of the game he showed complete and utter unbiaseness as he went out about officiating the game.
The footballers took to the court with a strong side feeling completely up to the challenge.
With such players as Brod , Tails at centre, the Belbin boy. Massa. Leigh. Matty, the lads thought they were in with a good chance. Early indications were that very few knew a thing about the game and arguing with the inscrutable Bear bought them no joy.
The girls with the Mozz , Megan,Jenna, Beccy , Bindi, Leigh Anne and Achel,Fiona etc showed the lads how the game was played.
Changes at quarter time from both sides with Blair J-Rod, Jae for the boys coming on and the man mountain Big D and the girls bought on Carly Ann, Dannielle , Chada,Zoey
More arguing from the lads on the completely unbiased umpiring and the ball was advanced up the court.
Tails was outstanding at centre and the Belbin boy knows how to play.
Great to see supporters out watching eg Pyley, Scotty etc.
Tails was curtailed to a certain degree when Jacinta arrived and went to centre She has a Rolls Royce motor and runs all night. knowing only one way to play.
The girls were comfortable with a lead when the Bear took to the court as goal shooter from then on it was all down hill for the team and the Bear dragged himself off in disgrace at the last break.
Tails had taken a turn at umpiring and whilst he picked up a few infringements he soon returned to the game, all too technical for the Tails.
With many changes during the game and the penalty count ( nothing to do with the umpiring!) against the Curra lads aproaching 200 and the girls around 50 it was not hard to see what the outcome of the game would be. well surprise, surprise the lads lost by one goal. they picked up the rules quickly and whilst sometimes over exuberant played some great netball. The winner on the night was really everybody because a good time was had by all.
This sought of social get together is what has been missing at Curra. The Bear thoroughly enjoyed it and hopes it will be only the first of many social outings.
