The Curra Swans again paid the price for not playing four quarters of football at Muldoon Oval on Saturday.
After suffering their first defeat of the season to the Swans in their previous encounter the Thuringowa Bulldogs were always going to be out to prove a point.
The Bulldogs played a very physical game in an obvious tactic to unsettle the younger and quicker Swans.
For the first quarter at least the tactic was successful with the Bulldogs jumping the Swans with a 7 goal to 2 first term.
The Swans adapted to the physical style of the game and outscored the Bulldogs by 9 goals to 5 for the remainder of the contest but fell 12 points short when the final siren sounded.
On a positive note the Swans were finishing all over the top of the Bulldogs and surely would have snatched a win with another 5 minutes of footy. However that was not to be but the Swans took so much out of the match.
The Bulldogs are obviously worried by the pace of the Swans and took the physical approach to the match and it worked for a time. Once the Swans adapted and kept coming it was plain to see if that’s all the Bulldogs have to match the youth and speed of the Swans then the next few contests should be very interesting.
Bulldogs 12.14-86
Swans 11.08-74
