Former Swans player and Hermit Park key forward Keith Roberts vowed to rain goals upon his former club in the recent round 14 clash between the Swans and the Tigers. Rain goals it did but unfortunately for Roberts the rain was coming the other way.
The young Swans dominated the clash for the first three quarters to be 66 points clear at the final break. An outstanding effort considering the Swans hadn’t beaten the Tigers in nearly two seasons. An eight goal to one final burst from the Tigers put some respectability in the final result but there was no mistaking who was the better side on the day.
Josh Hall had another day out dominating the ruck and chiming in with 4 goals to match team mate Tarquin Neal for leading goalkicker for the Swans.
The last quarter fade out was a concern for coach Peter Young but one that can be improved on in the run to the finals. The Swans are still finding it hard to put together four full quarters yet are finding ways to win games in 2011. That is a sign that would be concerning opposition coaches.
When the Swans play at their best they are a very dangerous side. When they learn to play for the entire four quarters they will become very hard to beat.
As for the comments from Roberts in the paper on the morning of the game they had little effect on the game other to give a few Swans supporters some ammo to fire at a hapless Tiger who only managed 1 goal for the match. As stated Robbo left on good terms and still gets on well with his former team mates and the Swans would welcome back Robbo at any time should he wish to return to Muldoon Oval.
Curra Swans 18.7 (115)
Hermit Park 14.8 (92).
Goals: T. Neal 4, J. Hall 4, B. Clark 3, D. Noonan 2, N. Wescombe 2, A. McDonald 1, B. Doyle 1, J. Ruzzier 1.
