The Curra Swans lost the A grade but won the Eric Johns Cup,such was the mixed emotions at Muldoon Oval on Saturday.
The Swans were never really in the hunt in the main game after the Tigers jumped them in the opening term kicking 4 goals into the strong wind. Both sides had 5 scoring shots on goal but the Swans could only manage a solitary 6 pointer for the efforts. Their wayward kicking would continue for the remainder of the match and robbed the Swans of any chance of applying scoreboard pressure on the more accurate Tigers.
In the second quarter the Swans pressure improved and they kept themselves with an outside chance of getting back in the game by keeping the Tigers to 3 goals with the wind. For their part the Swans could only manage another 5 behinds to go to the main break trailing 1.9 to 7.3.
Any chance of a fight back was put to rest early in the third term with the Swans not making the most of their chances. A repeat of the first quarter effort had the Swans on 2.13 at the last drinks break and the Tigers had the breeze in the last.
The final term continued the trend of the game with the visitors never really being challenged by a side that continues to have its ups and downs. The Tigers kicked another 5 goals to stretch the margin out to 52 points despite only having 2 more scoring shots than the Swans.
Final Score
Tigers 14.6-90
