Curra Swans rover Adam McDonald capped off a remarkable day on Sunday by taking out the W. J. Williams Medal for the Leagues Best & Fairest Player.
McDonald becomes the fourth Curra Swans player to win the prestigious award following Peter Pyle 1995, Corey Hewitt 2001, 2002 and Brent Doyle 2009
Earlier in the day at the Swans clubhouse McDonald easily won the Darren Hoare Players Player award for Curra Swans.
With a vocal support group avidly cheering every vote McDonald received, it made for a popular outcome at the Leagues night of nights at the Rydges Hotel.
Finally we may see Adam step out from behind the shadow of big brother Jack. For so long the younger McDonalds feats were compared to the older brother. Whilst understandable to some extent it is great to see Adam win this medal and stand alone as a McDonald that can play in his own right.
Well done Adam on a great season and the burning question that remains now is can Adam become the first Curra Swans player to get the trifecta. No player has yet won the League B&F, Swans Players Player and Swans B&F in the same season.
Adam has 2 in the bag and would have to be a real chance of the remaining award after such a standout season.
