Seniors
The Bear had a look at the seniors and thought although we tried hard we did not have much structure in the first half, boomed it in too high and Lions did have a couple of blokes who could mark a ball and they took advantage of our poor play.
Jae was playing well in the backs and Keepy with the trusty left foot was working hard.
Brod looked more at home when he went back to the back lines in the second half.
Josh Williams also played well.
It wasn’t from lack of trying in the first half we were having a go, but with out much finesse. Second half a big improvement with the last quarter being the icing on the cake. We opened the forward lines up and kicked well and were clearly fitter than the luckless Lions who had more injuries than a Saturday night at the Emergency dept.
Maybe that related back to their fitness. Any how the Bear doesn’t care as long as his beloved Swans got the points.
Reserves
The Bear is back
The Bear came out of hibernation climbed into the lair and after last weeks performance from the Ressies wasn’t sure what he would see.
What a pleasant surprise. Some smooth flowing, hard at it football.
Admittingly some of the Lions Ressies looked like they belonged in a Sumo wrestling championship but you still have to play good footy to kick a good score. We won in centre with a tireless display of ruckwork from Big D. he dominated the centre and set up opportunities all day.
Our defence was tighter than the tax man in July well led by the experienced (not old) boys Jack and Trev.
Max Tink was given us superb drive through centre and the feed to Brodie at full forward where he did not let us down kicking ten goals for the game was a high light.
Sticks was outstanding and took the mark of the day nobody to see it on video unfortunately and his drive off the wing etc was grand.
If Foxy had played like he did in the last quarter showing there’s a bit of bite in the old dog yet he would have been well up there.
Trev and co shifted the side around and it worked with every player playing in the centre contributing to the biggest win I’ve seen from our Ressies in the eleven year I’ve been involved.
Special mention to the Belbin boy who was as good as anybody but running in to open goals is not his forte!
