Curra Swans Footballer and Australian Athlete.
Nathaniel Seadon Gardiner
Nat was part of last seasons Curra Swans Under 16 AFL side where he excelled when available playing at Full Forward proving his all round sporting versatility.
Nat often was not available for selection at AFL due to him pursuing his dream of one day performing for Australia in the green and gold. Nat’s years of dedication (and we would say also his mum’s in driving him every where) has been rewarded when this week Wed 27th to 29th 2012 in Cairns he will contest the under 20-s Javelin events for Australia at the Oceana Games.
Born on the 28th of May 1995 and educated at Vincent and Marion schools in his early years, his secondary education was completed at Pimlico.
Nat at the age of 7 joined the Little Athletics program where he competed until the age of 12 in all aspects of athletics from running to shot put to hammer throwing.
At that time he made a decision that would take him on a journey to the top when he switched to javelin and dedicated his time to the one discipline.
In 2010 his dedication and training paid dividends when competing in the Australian Combined Schools Comp. Doncaster, Victoria where he threw a PB (personal best) to finish second overall.
In 2011 he competed in Sydney in the Aust Junior Championships once again throwing a PB finishing second overall.
2012 saw Nat compete once again in Sydney at the Aust Junior Championships again he threw a PB, finishing 3rd overall. These performances bought him under the eye of the Australian selectors and Nat’s hard work discipline and dedication has seen him selected to compete for the first time in the Green and Gold. We salute Nat and his aspirations and wish him good luck in 2012.
