Junior clubs throughout Queensland will unite this weekend to promote the Positive or It’s Pointless campaign
Positive or it’s Pointlessaims to ensure football is safe, fun and inclusive for children by reducing poor and unacceptable player, spectator and parent behavior.
Brisbane Lions player and Positive or it’s Pointless Ambassador Tom Rockliff said the program unites the football community and encourages juniors to love their football and have fun, win or lose.
“Playing sport is all about having fun, having a go, and enjoying a safe and fair game,” said Rockliff.
“On or off the field - if you’re a player, parent, spectator, official, coach or volunteer - with your positive support, respect and encouragement for others, we can all enjoy the fast-paced excitement of an AFL game”.
Remember – Positive or it’s pointless - together we can make junior sport positive everyday!
Let’s make junior sport positive every day…it’s all about having fun!
- Offer positive comments to players, coaches and other spectators
- Applaud the efforts of match officials, players and coaches
- Focus on a child’s efforts and self esteem rather than whether they win or lose
- Remember that children play sport for their enjoyment
- Remember that children learn best by example, teach them what sportsmanship means
- Respect the decisions of match officials and teach children to do the same
