FOR the Curra Swans, some wet weather would be a welcome addition to today's AFL Townsville clash against Thuringowa Bulldogs clash at Muldoon Oval.
Curra play a Bulldogs team determined to overturn last week's season-opening loss to Hermit Park Tigers, but Swans captain Adam McDonald is confident his team can use a wet track to their advantage.
"The wet weather footy might suit us a bit better than the bigger bodies of the Bulldogs," McDonald said.
"It's our home ground, so we know it well and we'll use that knowledge. The Bulldogs are the heavyweights of the competition and every game against them is going to be tough, but we are seeing it as an opportunity to play some good footy," he said.
Curra started the 2013 RMS Townsville AFL season by defeating Townsville City Lions 18.17 (125) to 10.14 (74) last week, while Thuringowa lost to Hermit Park by 35 points.
McDonald said the win over Townsville City provided a solid platform for today's game.
"There's definitely room for improvement and we'll be looking for plenty of enthusiasm and commitment," he said.
"The Lions were really impressive and they've definitely become stronger during the off-season."
