The Curra Swans held their first intra club practice for the
year at Muldoon Oval on Saturday.
Combined with Sign on day and a working bee it was a great
club day. (Pics in photo gallery)
The working bee was a great warm up for the match with Club
president Scot Beynon
Leading the troops in the warm up in the very hot Nth
Queensland afternoon sun.
Grass catchers now takes on a new meaning for the players.
After the warm up players were divided onto two teams and
the “Swans” took on the “Jaffas”
Although no score was kept its fair to say that despite the
fantastic efforts of the “Jaffas”” star players Keepy and Whiskey, the Swans
with a host of veterans lining up took the honors for the day.
Coaches Simon Johnson and Peter Pyle were very pleased with
the work out and focus now turns to the practice match against 2008 Cairns
Premiers, the Cairns Saints.
The match against the Saints will be played on Cazaleys in Cairns
the day after the NAB Cup Challenge match at the same venue.
The game will then be followed by a Masters Football
carnival featuring teams from Townsville, Cairns,
Gove, Mackay and Rockhampton. A number of the Swans vets will participate in
the carnival.
All combined it makes for a great weekend away for the club.
Any person interested in going contact Club President, Scot
Beynon.
