Curra Swans have been dealt a cruel blow in the lead up to this weeks clash with the Hawks. A total of 22 players are unavailable across both grades this week forcing Swans coach, Peter Pyle into making 10 changes to this weeks senior side.
Tough defenders Brian Keene (work), Kye Garner (work) and Blair Hill (holidays) will be missing in defence.
Up forward the Swans will be without David Anspach (suspended) and Nathan Wescombe (injury)
Ruckman Dylan Bycroft (injured) and on baller Tyson McNeil (work) will be missed in the middle while Liam Gordon (holidays), Eric Faulkner (work) and Tom Madsen (work) are also out.
Backman Robert Anderson returns along with the seasoned Raymond Mathewson.
New signing Ben Firth gets an immediate call up and will join U17 players Tristan Dennis and Wallace Wall among three players making their senior debuts for the Swans this week.
Khyle Goodman, Taylar Webb, Joel Sim, Broderick Hill and Jayde Mcgregor join their U17 team mates at the senior level for the clash.
While its disappointing for the Swans to have so many players away it is also a positive to see the Club getting 2 full sides on the ground.
The Reserves have there own woes with players away but have managed to name 21 players with big man Tom Entriken a late call up.
After last weeks promising showing the Swans had set their sights on the undefeated Hawks who will have their own dramas getting two sides ready this week.
The students have exams and holidays playing havoc with their sides.
But that’s footy and you can only play with what you have.
The Swans need to focus on that and not dwell on who isn’t playing and take this opportunity to upset the Hawks.
The Swans have a great target up forward in Carl Ward and two of the best midfielders going around in co captains Jason Drew and Brent Doyle.
The younger Swans will provide plenty of pace and enthusiasm.
Adversity is often the catalyst for inspiration. 22 Swans players will run out in the red, white and blue and they have the opportunity to do something special.
