On Sunday Aug 9th one of Curra Swans favourite sons lost his life prematurely.
Darren Hoare played in the Swans premiership sides of ’97 and ’98 and was captain coach of the Swans in ’99.
Daren played the majority of his football at the Swans as a centreman and was noted for his silky skills.
Darren was also given jobs in the backline when one of the opposition small forwards looked like getting on top.
Darren and his better half Molly-Joe were loved by all at the Swans and played a major part in installing Curra as the best social club in the comp.
Only two years ago Darren was visiting his father-in-law, Swans Life Member Eric Collis snr, and couldn’t help but put on a jumper even though he hadn’t played for six months.
Hoare was a part of a very special breed of player the Swans had in the late nineties, his leadership, commitment, and family shaped the club to be what it is today.
The Curra Swans Football Club sends its deepest sympathy to Molly-Joe and their three children and if they are ever in town they will always feel at home.
R.I.P. Darren Hoare.
