The Bear after the debacle of the Ressies could only sit in the
grandstand and wonder why he missed out on his Friday night fix of
netball. Well bugger me the Bear was pleasantly surprised, the Seniors
came out and had a fair dinkum crack at the Hawks and for a change in
the first half it was the Hawk's feathers that were being ruffled.
It started in defence with the brother's Hill bloody near impassable
and along with Poomba (with the booming voice) and the Fev formed for
almost two quarters an impassable blockade.
How good was it finally see some great rebounding footy and some nice opportunist goals kicked.
Clarky was in and under and J-Rod was giving a good target, playing
well up the field, Adam Mac well he was just doing the usual.
Doyly and Whisky were winning their share of the pill and the longer
the game went the better Doctor Tim got now playing on a wing which has
been a good move by the coach.
John Macansh went in to ruck with the absence of Wayno and he proved that white men can jump.
But after half time it was dejavu once again the Hawks running
players got on top and with nice use of the hands got on top of our
defence. The difference to the Bear seemed to be that the Hawks found
their goals easily and the few we got after half time we grafted. It
was hard work.
It would be nice to see most if not all our players available at finals time to put pressure on the selectors.
In the early 1940-s Fitzroy won a VFL flag. What has this to do with us?
Well they are the only VFL side to finish bottom ( four teams because of the war years) and win a flag.
We can make history by doing the same. Don't believe it can be done,
well! tell exFitzroy supporters that of which the Bear is one.
I think it was Les Lindgren that said last night you only have to win three games to win the flag and he is right.
The Bear could go into summer hibernation happy with that!
