The Curra Swans Football Club would like to encourage all players and supporters to wear something yellow to the football this weekend in support of the Bulldogs hosting of Call To Arms Day at Tony Ireland Stadium.
In 2006, after Essendon Football Club champion Adam Ramanauskas was diagnosed with cancer, his teammates wore yellow armbands in the Clash For Cancer against Melbourne Football Club. Without knowing it at the time, this became the first ever Call to Arms game. Since then, sporting clubs of all codes and levels have joined the cause by wearing yellow in one game each season.
On Saturday the 30th July at Tony Ireland Stadium the Bulldogs will be hosting a "Call to Arms" day to raise the much needed funds and the awareness for research into Men's Health with particular emphasis onprostrate cancer.
The Thuringowa Bulldogs will wear yellow socks and yellow armbands to show their support for this worthy cause. There will be a donation buckets passed around the Tony Ireland Stadium and all sports minded supporters are encouraged to get behind this cause and attend the matches. All supporters and visitors who attend are encouraged to wear something yellow to show their support. The Call to Arms Day will kick off with the Colts match at 11:30 followed by the Reserve Grade match at 1:00 Pm and the Senior Match of the Day at 3:00Pm with the Thuringowa Bulldogs hosting the Curra Swans.
In a lead up to the Call to Arms Day, at 7:30 on Thursday evening at Tony Ireland Stadium the Queensland Cancer Council will conduct a workshop to provide valuable information relating to men's health and all AFL players & supporters are welcome to attend.
