CURRA SWANS 2-0 6-5 10-7 15-11 101
HERMIT PARK 2-2 2-3 2-5 02-05 17
The Curra Swans U17 side won their second consecutive AFL Townsville premiership in emphatic style defeating the Hermit Park Tigers by 84 points at Tony Ireland Stadium on Saturday.
The Swans went into the final as red hot favourites but took some time to settle.
Grand Final nerves were evident early as the Swans made many uncharacteristic errors that gave hope to their opponents. Hermit Park took full advantage and made much better use of the ball in the first quarter to lead the Swans by 2 points at quarter time.
The Swans came out of the first break a different side and quickly dispelled any thoughts of an upset. The Swans took control and completely dominated the remainder of the match.
Jayd McGregor and Khyle Goodman were to much to handle for the Tigers defence kicking four goals each with Michael Roverts adding 3 from the pocket.
Proof that this young Swans outfit were in a league of their own showed when they held their opponent goal less for the last 3 quarters and indeed scoreless in the final term.
Jayd McGregor was named man of the match.
