The Yarras have recruited well in all teams of the club during the offseason. Although like most clubs, we have lost some players too.
We have strengthened our Senior side with some new recruits and we await with anticipation to see how our new outfit will perform in the new season.
The Seniors and Reserves finished fourth in the home-and-away season and marred by injury impacting both sides in the finals. Unfortunately, both teams lost in close matches against Hallam and were consequently eliminated. Both sides are determined to improve on last year’s results. Our Seniors and Reserves are in winning form from their preseason practice matches against VAFA sides, Swinburne Uni and Manningham Cobras.
Our premiership winning netball team find themselves with some new players as we head into division two for the first time in the club’s history. Furthermore, the Yarras have formed a forth side which will play in division eight. Our other netball sides will feature in divisions four and six. The girls are fitter than ever as they have been put through a gruelling preseason with a focus on running and agility.
The Yarras welcome back our coaches from 2016, as all of them have taken their positions once again which we are confident the players will benefit from the proceeds of consistency and stability.
Dallas will coach our Thirds. He brings with him unprecedented enthusiasm and passion.
Muscle man, Tucky will be our Reserves coach and provide plenty of football intelligence which he has gained by playing at a higher level.
Daisy is our Senior coach for his second year. Passionate about the club, Daisy can be seen maintaining the club rooms after he has ran the boys into the ground during training. He has implemented a game plan which is sure to bamboozle the opposition.
Our members thank the contribution and commitment provided by Hilly, Owen and Aarland with their fundraising, administrative and support over the preseason and the season to come. Our club would not exist if weren’t for the tireless efforts of these men.
The Yarras open the season against Doveton Eagles and St Kilda City with all sides playing at the Den. Followed by Back-2-Skool Disco function at the Den.
Special thank you to all of our sponsors including Brady Tiling, Tyrepower Camberwell, Bendigo Bank, Camberwell Toyota, Rounds Real Estate, Avenue Press and all of our 250 Club Members.
