Sat July 21- I was excited this morning, Harry Potter was being released and the feeling today was going to be a magical one certainly had me smiling. By the time the football was over, the smile was gone and the only thing magical was how quickly I wanted to dissappear into a crack in the ground.
The day started poorly with the U19's going down by 12 goals. I missed the whole game but have been told by very good authority that Tim Moulas played a cracker of a game. The source of this valuable information was infact Tim "Tommy" Moulas himself, so you will need to decide what credibility there is to that.
Hoffy's team didnt fare much better. Again he was let down by the players who didnt turn up and I know he is feeling the frustration. The reserve side is meant to be a feeder program into the senior team, with the players pushing the senior side for their spots in the team. Unfortunately Hoffy seems to have god's waiting room, as players are coming into his team to drink beer and retire. Having said that, players like Craig Webster and Zac Anver try their hearts out for the club week by week, if only we could give them more support.
The Senior game was very undiscipined. It didnt help that the umps were terribly inconsistent, but when the ump has made his decision, shut up. I have said this in previous weeks, and I understand there is passion in the game and we all hate losing, but for goodness sake, the ump is not going to change his decision, so think of the team before opening your mouth. Just because you feel better for saying what probably needed to be said, the team is suffering. In low scoring condtions, 3 out of the first 7 goals creek got were gifted to them through mouthing off awarded 25's. What is more annoying is I heard Jack Cole specifically say to the players "Give away no cheap goals in these conditions". Some players will need to seriously look hard at the "individual" goals they are achieving at the expense of the "team".
Diamond Creek out played us in the second half. They wanted the ball more than the Mont players and it showed up on the scoreboard. Congratulations to Diamond Creek not only for the game, but the day was brilliant for the Mont supporters and Committee as your hospitality was first rate.
