The finals campaign is of and running and we are up and about and on our bike. In perfect football conditions the seniors played a dominant 2nd half keeping the opposition to 1 goal after an indifferent first half and now progress to the 2nd semi. The 2s seemed to be in control most of the day before almost getting the staggers in the last qtr. and now move on to the 1st semi. The Best Player ticket Saturday went to Jake Williams and Sunday to Corey Ray. Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket in what was a record sell with almost 13 sets sold.
The Seniors will be playing at Preston on Sunday Sept 5th at 2.10PM and the 2s at Preston on Saturday Sept. 4th at 11.45AM. The rooms will be open immediately after theses games finish for any members who wish to come back to get out of the cold and home of the FREE Pizza.
Renovations. Stage 1 of the works at the club is due to start very shortly with improvements to the viewing area. Thanks to Darebin Council, Aneeta Windows, OzAwnings and The Coterie Group for their support in getting this underway. Stages 2-137 will follow.
Around The Traps Mrs Aylward and Mrs Barker would have taught their kids that you should always put on clean underwear in case you’re in an accident or something. Well we found out what something was last week but I don’t think anyone thought that would involve a pointy heeled shoe. The Jolly Raffle has been put on Ice till March 18th next year standing at $2621. Well done to Bomba for his efforts. Some people are known to sleep with the light on but Tony DelMastro left 64 on the other night but it did save the tackle bag. Legends Game Early in 2011 to mark nothing at all apart from a bit of social banter at the bar one week the Young Christian Workers of West Preston will take on the thugs from Reservoir Lakeside. To qualify to play you must have played with either club prior to the merger. Appointments have already been made with Milesy to do battle with Tex in the timekeepers box. Believe it or not Tony Eley has volunteered to clean the change rooms after the game again. Lunch will be on followed by a couple of ales. Jumpers will be available to be purchased by players. Enquiries should be directed to Laurie Tilley for West and Chris Miles for Lakies.
