In front of the smallest crowd for the year maybe they were flying Tiger or couldn’t get through Customs or over their eskies but didn’t deter the game from being another thriller. Thanks to 24 for inspiring William who only had to play 3/4s to be Best On Ground. Although giving way a 6 goal start we played one of the best quarters to go into the main break 2 goals up setting up the win in the third before being headed in the last to regain our composure and finally take the win. The 2s aren’t happy about their lack of publicity but when your captain takes of to the seniors it becomes all about Tom. The 19s fought out the game strongly being an outside chance at the last break succumbed to a finals contender. Thanks again to the Under 16s for filling in and congratulations to all the under 17s who all found work last week. Today its the Green Slime at Home and hopefully the planes are flying and the crowd returns back to the Lake Oval.
At half time West Preston’s Auskick centre will play a couple of games to entertain us so please stay of the oval so they can enjoy the day. They will also unveil their new trailer full of goodies.
Around The Traps The Senior Coaching Panel took young Kev Hardy to watch the Carlton game 4 rows back from the interchange bench and all Kev talked about all week was the Carlton game. Crazy organised the huge Auskick event last Friday and then failed to turn up until the free beers and food were on.

Lakeside Netball. Were defeated by Diamond Creek last week. Last night they took on South Morang at 10PM. They are looking at fielding a 2nd team next year for any ladies interested. They also cater for juniors at all levels.
Juniors The mentoring program was back in action with the Under 10s in action mentored by Simon Close and Billy Morrison. The boys spoke about how they came to West and their junior careers and it certainly impressed me but when the boys were asked for questions the only one coming forward was What number does Presti wear. This week its the Under 9s which might test the mettle of the organisers. This program is hugely popular with the senior players attending the kids training and some match days. Closey did deliver with a nice grab in the 1st qtr and Billy why he wants to be a forward. A big milestone coming up soon with Luke Weston set to break the longstanding Junior games record of 165 set in 1985 held by Eddie Rabak. Wagon is supplying all the drinks and Liz has set up the PomPom girls alongside other junior mums. Should be a great day
Coterie Group is up and running again and at various levels so see Milesy, Polly or Mario for further details. So far the group has raised the best part of 50 grand which will all go towards building improvements and with the support of Darebin council we will see vastly improved facilities for both home and visiting clubs. Darebin Council announced its budget for this coming year and once again find ourselves on the receiving end of some more revenue for an upgrade to our ground lighting in 2012. The new multi purpose room has been pushed back to start in August.
