A snapshot of time & place can create a particular profile of someone that only captures a small portion of who they really are.
No greater example of this is the current profile of our bartender extraordinaire Peter “Jnr” Mills.
Junior has run the bar on a Thursday and Saturday afternoon home games every year for over the past decade. He, along with his trusty partner Paul Carol, put in long shifts ensuring that everyone is kept hydrated during the home games.
You can tell which one is Jnr, he’s the one that buys his pants from Pumpkin Patch.
In more recent times, Jnr has forged a reputation as the greatest scone maker in the Northern Metropolitan Region. He provided over 200 scones for our Mother’s Day celebration, in acknowledgment of the special influence mothers have on their kids.
So well were those scones received, rumour has it that we signed 7 opposition players on that day alone, solely on the commitment that the players’ Mums would be given six months’ worth of scones as the player remuneration: Jnr could be responsible for the greatest recruiting strategy the club has ever had, and he is using the dough the club can easily fund.
Our insightful snr coach, Leigh Cole, has realised he has an elder statesmen in our Jnr. Every Thursday night post team selection, Leigh will hand Jnr the ones side to get ratification from him. The side is not officially read out until Jnr gives it the stamp of approval.
But for those of us who are part of a bygone era, Jnr has a rich and celebrated history in football circles.
Football Pedigree
Jnr comes from outstanding pedigree. His father Jack, played 124 games for Carlton after debuting in 1950. Jack was recruited from South Bendigo and kicked 128 goals for Carlton at a strike rate of over one per game. For more information on Jack click on the following link

His Mum Audrey has a significant place in West Preston FC history. She was made a life member in 1988. She served in the canteen for 13 consecutive years from 1983 to 1995. Audrey is known as a genuinely lovely lady, who played an active role in her sons’ football careers.
Jnr’s Football Career
Jnr Mills was a more than a handy footballer. In his formative snr years, Jnr played Carlton under 19s and several years with Castlemaine in Bendigo league. It was during his stint in the bush, he played on Greg Williams. The Diesel had to escape to the AFL after Jnr terrorised him on that day.
