U/10 Blues vs Penrith Swans
A much tougher game for the Blues at Benson Lane from a worthy opponent in the Penrith Swans. There were many contests for the ball, resulting in plenty of ballups and less goals than last week. Never the less, there were some nice goals by Angus and Zac. Man of the match Harley put in some dashing runs with the ball and set up some goals.
As a team the Blues continue to improve in method and in style.
BMK U10 White v Rooty Hill Power
Wet, soggy feet and a beautiful morning set the scene for a huge game from The Mountain Men. Playing away from home again, The Mountain Men had sensational vocal support from the massive band of followers which have gathered over the last couple of weeks as the word has spread through out the District of the action packed footy the boys have turned on. And it was that support that The Men called upon as they shaped up against a seasoned Rooty Hill Power team. From the first centre throw The Men contested in every area, running the ball out from trouble, pressured in defence and pressed hard down the forward line. Some fantastic skills shown by Lior Hadari at the back kept frustrating the Power forwards as they found it hard to match him in the skills department, as usual total dominance of the ruck by Crackers Keenan and Owen “the bulldog” Powell supplied for some silky touches upfront by Oscar Atkins as well as Conner “The Superboot” McGannon. Some great team work featured in the final quarter lead by Reg Dixon with Angus Goodwin and Alex Wydmuch keeping the ball alive at every chance. Once again another stellar performance from The Mountain Men, well done – see you at training Wednesday.
U12, Div 3 Vs St Clair Crows
Another fantastic effort from this team. Josh Egan was a worthy POM with strong work in defence and attack. Ben Lambert, Levi Whitmore, Oliver Clarke and Oliver Fenn played well while Zac Briggs was a terrific target man and responded with 6 goals. St Clair had no answer to the Kangaroo onslaught and the mercy rule was implemented at half time.
BMK 9-6-60 St Clair 0-0-0.
U14, Div 1 vs Penrith Swans
Well it was a beautiful day for footy and we were bought back to earth with a relatively small thump by the Penrith Swans. For much of the game we were leading but the Swans never gave up and just kept pushing with the outcome in their favour. This is not much different to our style, they just did it better this week so we look forward to our next game where we can show them just how we can push.
I would like to thank Tristan, Christian, Matthew and Peter for playing with us and filling the gaps left by team members on holiday or injured in school sport. They certainly earned their place in our team and are welcome to play with us any time.
Man of the match this week went to Jeb with his sterling work in defence it really made a difference to the flow of the game.
U14, Div 2 vs Hill Lions
The Blues looked good for their first win of the season at the end of the 3rd quarter. But despite some great teamwork and improving performances from the new team members, they again ran out of puff in the 4th quarter losing 48–39.
U16 vs Penrith/Rooty Hill

Swans 2.5 2.5 4.10 5.10.40

U16 v Penrith/Rooty Hill Swans: After being jumped by St Clair in the last game, the Roos were always going to start with more enthusiasm and drive this week. Penrith/Rooty Hill stood above the Roos on the ladder and were undefeated for the season so far. They were looking for a big game and battled hard through the first quarter against a strong and determined Roos outfit. The arm wrestle that was the opening quarter gave way to some free flowing play in the second. The Roos maintained the momentum of forward attacks, while completely blanketing the Swans. The Roos know solid defence and quick ball movement gets results and at half time a substantial lead was opened up. Once again the two Jacks - Pople and Moore proved miserly in defence. Their rebounds back to the midfield helped open up room for run and carry through the middle. Aiden Quike played his usual steady and damaging role in the midfield and really stood up when needed. Injuries to key ball winners Jacob Field and Jay Watson were covered. In spite of being thrown into unfamiliar roles all the covering moves worked well. Tom Morgan gained in stature supporting the defence and Danny Buckley grew dangerous in and under the packs. Jake Gililand proved a handful as he drifted forward to be very dangerous around goal. Tim Roe really stood up in the ruck against towering opposition and more than matched the Swans in knockouts and possessions. Seb Camilleri was robust in defence and attack while Luke Hyland was a key target up forward. It really was a solid team effort. Everyone put in 110% to finish the game strongly and the Roos came away with a convincing win.
