U10 White v Glenmore Park Lions
Mystery Illness threatened to knockout The Mountain Men’s Sunday Extravaganza this week with 3 of our frontline driving the porcelain bus for most of the weekend, however the Men showed up with their game faces on prepared to put in a good show for their fallen comrades and band of adoring supporters. Going against their traditional starts this year, maybe as it was Sunday they would do something different, The Mountain Men set an absolute blistering pace from the first centre throw showing some simply stunning football, displaying all the skills from the centre ruck through to the forward line with vigour and precision. Sensational U10 White debuts from Angus Cameron and Zack Tritton keep the ball flowing freely between the big sticks and at qtr time The Men had opened a commanding lead. The next qtr was business as usual for The Mountain Men with Owen “The Bulldog” Powell dominating the centre third delivering quality possession up front to Brandon “Mungo” Peary and Ethan Powell backed up by rock solid defence by Superboot McGannon and Sensei Glasson. The second half the Men called upon their defensive skills, holding solid in the back third stopping crucial goals and pressuring the Lions into making errors. Special mention to Lior Hadari, who bamboozled the opposition with a fantastic skill set, steering the ball from defence into attack. Also a big thanks to Angus and Zack who filled in from the Blue team and became Honorary Mountain Men for the day. All round a fantastic team performance, something Sheeds would have been proud to watch. Great work lads, catch ya on Wednesday.
U/10 Blues vs Hawkesbury Saints
Another great result by the team. With help from some players filling in from the Whites team, the Blues ground out the game. The cohesion and skill level gets better every week. The boys, particularly Angus Cameron at Fullback, worked hard at rebounding the ball out of the backline against a determined Saints effort, resulting in 2 to 3 goals each quarter. Goals from Angus, Lior and Zac were also most impressive. Captain on the day Mali was also good with his setup work in the forward line, while repeat man of the match performance from Zac also played a big part in the game.
All eyes are now firmly fixed on Tom Hunter Park for our next big challenge: the U/10 Whites !
U14, Div 1 vs Camden
What a cracker of a game this week. There was certainly no complacency in our team, last week sorted that out, but there was less urgency compared to the Camden team who really wanted that ball compared to the Kangas. After saying that it was a really good game with lots of pressure either way. It did not matter where I put someone, they were in for a workout which made it "interesting" to rest and place players. On the way home both boys in my car had a little nap so, I think, it would have been a quiet trip home for all parents as that wide field really gave the boys a workout.
A big thankyou to Christian and Sean who played up from the U13s and really left a good account of themselves in the game.
U16 vs Sth West Tigers
