U/10 Blues v Rooty Hill Power
Fresh from 2 weeks school holidays, the Blues hit the ground running at Tom Hunter on Saturday. With a couple players still away, Lior from the Whites bolstered our ranks. Lior combined well kicking 4 goals, with Rhys and man of the match Xavier. Cameron and Angus dominated in ball-ups while Blake helped them run the ball. Kienan was busy as usual, running the ball into and out of zones. Tyler and Mali did some clever work in defence. Harley and Zac fulfilled all the tasks given to them in all positions by a grateful coach.
BMK U10 White v Rooty Hill Power
The Mountain Men trundled in for their long awaited home coming and Tom Hunter Park was at its majestic best to host the showdown with the Power. The Men started a few comrades down, the Superboot, Crackers and Mungo were all still holidaying in the Bahamas, Big Al lost to the Shire area forever, so a big thanks to the Blueys that stayed back to pitch in and became honorary Mountain Men for the day.
The first qtr was a tight affair, with The Men jumping out of the gates early, Sensei Glasson picking up exactly where he left off from the Lions game in fine form making life very difficult for the Power attack ably supported by, returning from injury, Lior Hadari who was back to his best with both lads putting on a fine display in the centre third. Tight defence from both sides meant the capacity crowd at THP were going to be in for something special from the rest of the game as both sides went back and forth. Qtr time and The Men were right in it. The second started with a bang with the big fella Ford Atkins putting on his first major of the year ! ! Some great lead up work through the centre from the always impressive Bulldog Powell aided by bother in arms Ethan, the Powell Brothers showing great combination to move the ball from defence to attack in the blink of an eye and at Half time it was anybodies game. The second half did not disappoint, with both sides really turning on the skills for the crowd. Luca Goudis showed amazing ball handling skills, sweeping through the ruck after ruck gathering the Sherrin one handed then pushing the ball forward deep into the front line with booming left foot setting up, for another first, Big Reg Dixon for his first goal of the year ! ! ! From deep in the deep in the forward pocket the big fella looked like he had the ball on a string to bend in what seemed an impossible angle for The Men’s 5th major for the day. As predicted the Power refused to yield and The Mountain Men had to dig deep towards the end of the 4th, great goal line defence by The Goose Atkins and Angus Goodwin meant the scoreboard attendants were not overly worked with The Mountain Men putting together another fine display. Great work boys after a long break. Thanks again to the Blueys that donned the White Guernsey for the day.
U14 Div 3 v Hills Lions
After a good first quarter, it looked like a first win against the Lions. But after clocking off in the second quarter, it left the boys with too much to do despite a better second half. Lions 64 BMK 40.
U16's v Penrith Rooty Hill
The boys kept the opposition goalless in the first half scoring 8-7-55 to 0-5-5. Fitness caught the boys in the second half as many missed training during the school holidays but the team held strong to win Final: 13-14-92 PRH 5-9-39
