While it wasn't much of a year for footballers in Victoria, one member of the Bloods family has played some football in 2020 - with a Grand Final to come this weekend.
Mark Orr headed to New Zealand at the start of 2020 to begin a working career as an Osteopath. When he's not talking to local radio stations after spotting 'big cats' on a bike ride, he's also pulled the boots on with a local football team on New Zealand's South Island.
He kicked 49 goals in the home and away season, and despite not playing in all nine matches, his tally is a record number of goals kicked by a player in a season in the Christchurch based Canterbury Australian Football League. Unfortunately for Mark, he finished with 4.8 in windy conditions in the final match of the year and wasn't able to crack the half century. His record goal kicking haul however did help get his team through the season undefeated.
We wish Mark and his team, the Mid Canterbury Eagles, all the best for their Grand Final which takes place on Saturday at Midday Melton time. We also hope that Mark gets an opportunity to head home soon and visit family and friends as some of the COVID restrictions ease.
Good luck Orry!
