Footy and netball returned to Maccy Park last weekend for our first home matches after lockdown, with successful days for two of our football teams as well as our A grade and E grade netballers.
On the footy field the Unders had a disappointing day, falling short by 13 points in a scrappy, low scoring contest. Better players were hard to find, although the form of Conrad Farrugia who used his smarts to intercept opposition attacks on a number of occasions, Benn Tyson who held his opponent well down back, Evan Donoghue in the ruck, and new face Aiden Ficheroux gave a bit of toughness around the contest.
The reserves bounced back from a heavy loss the week before to score by 58 points. Harry Hanley took best on ground honours before he came off midway through the last to be a late replacement in the senior team. Jake Buttigieg and Matty Serafin chipped in with three goals.
The senior game wasn’t really one to remember but a 7 point win netted us the four points and kept us in second position on the ladder at the end of the round. Kighty chipped in with 3 goals, with Arch doing great things in the ruck, the ever consistent duo Cottsy and J-Walk having good days and youngster Bailey Mawson solid as a rock in defence.
A grade had a win on the netball court 49 to 47, while E grade got up by a goal 29 to 28.
