BY-LAWS
(Proposed New By-Laws)
1.AFFILIATION
THE Sunbury Football Club Incorporated (A0017072T) affiliates with the Ballarat Football League and adopts the rules as laid down by that body.
2.COLOURS
The colours of the club shall be:-
a) Jumper – Royal blue with white “V” neck-collars and cuffs; if required by the league an alternate or “clash” jumper will be a reverse of our original, ie white with Royal blue “V” neck-collars and cuffs
b) Socks – Royal Blue and White Hoops;
c) Shorts – Royal Blue or White
3.LIFE MEMBERSHIP
I. Nominations for Life Membership must be submitted to the Secretary, signed by the mover and seconder, who shall be financial members of the club, and of or over the age of seventeen years, along with the signature of a member of the Management Committee.
II. The Management Committee shall have the power to appoint any member a Life Member for services rendered to the Sunbury Football Club Inc (A0017072T). Such appointment shall only be made after a 75% majority of those members present at an Annual General Meeting have approved same. To be eligible a person must have served the club for at least ten constructive years or played at least 200 senior games.
Life members shall be free of membership fees and shall have the right to speak and vote at any General Meeting.
4.SELECTION COMMITTEE
a) The selection committee to select the first, second and U/18.5 teams of the Club shall include the coaches from all three teams together with two other persons as are determined by the Management Committee. At least one of the persons appointed to the selection committee must be a member of the Management Committee.
5.ELECTIONS OF CAPTAINS AND VICE CAPTAINS
a) Prior to the first premiership matches in each season, the Selection Committee shall recommend Captains and Vice Captains for each grade to the Management Committee. The Management Committee shall appoint the Captains and Vice Captains of all teams for the ensuing season and has the final say on any such appointments.
b) In the event of the position of captain or vice-captain of any of the teams becoming vacant, or of the person occupying the position being prevented from injury, or any other circumstance from taking his place in the selected team, the selection committee shall as early as practicable seek approval from the Management Committee for any temporary or permanent replacement.
6. SOCIAL COMMITTEE
The Management Committee shall provide for the formation of a Social Committee, which shall assist the social and fund raising function of the club. The Management Committee shall appoint a chairman of the Social Committee who shall make full reports to the Management Committee of the Social Committee’s Meetings. All proposals submitted by the Social Committee must first be ratified by the Management Committee before being acted upon.
7.TEAM OFFICIALS
It shall be the responsibility of the Management Committee to appoint Team Managers, time keepers, runners and trainers for each team prior to the premiership matches.
8.TRIBUNAL ADVOCATES
Prior to the commencement of each season the Management Committee shall appoint a panel of competent advocates to represent players and officials at BFL tribunal hearings.
9.REGISTER OF PLAYERS
It shall be the responsibility of the Management Committee to appoint a Registrar who shall keep and maintain the register of games played by each player for the club. First eighteen, second eighteen and third eighteen games shall be recorded separately in the Register.
10.CLEARANCES
Any clearance from the club will as according to rules of AFL Victoria be granted once the club treasurer has confirmed the player does not owe the club any money or is not in possession of any club property to the value of $100 or greater.
11.PLAYER REMUNERATION
It shall be the responsibility of the Management Committee to determine the club’s policy with respect to player remuneration each season. The Management Committee may appoint a Sub-Committee to negotiate remuneration agreements direct with individual players.
12.APPOINTMENT OF COACHES
It shall be the responsibility of the current Management Committee to decide if there is a need to advertise for coaches for any teams for the following season, or to interview applicants and to make any necessary appointments. Contract terms cannot exceed 1 year plus single year options.
13.BEST AND FAIREST VOTING
I. Votes for the Best and Fairest player in each team shall be awarded on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis at the conclusion of each game by three competent financial members of the club appointed by the team manager prior to commencement of the game. The votes when cast shall be sealed in an envelope and handed to the Secretary for safe keeping.
II. Voting for the Best and Fairest player in each team shall include all home and away games for premiership points and all finals.
14.CLUB AWARDS
I. The winner of the annual award for Best Clubman (Alan O’Connor Memorial Trophy) shall be determined on the votes cast by the Officers of the Management Committee on 2 votes (1st preference) and 1 vote (2nd preference) basis.
II. The Management Committee is empowered to award any other trophy it deems fit.
15.FIRST EIGHTEEN TROPHIES
Trophies for the first eighteen team shall at the discretion of the Selection Committee be awarded for:-
I. Best & Fairest (JJ McMahon trophy)
II. Runner Up
III. Third Best & Fairest
IV. Leading Goal Kicker
V. Best Defender
VI. Most Determined
VII. Best First Year Player
VIII. Most Improved (Andrew Ground Memorial trophy)
IX. Best in Finals (only awarded if the team progressed through to the Grand Final)
16.SECOND EIGHTEEN TROPHIES
Trophies for the second eighteen team shall at the discretion of the Selection Committee be awarded for:-
I. Best & Fairest (Ron Geyer trophy)
II. Runner Up
III. Third Best & Fairest
IV. Leading Goal Kicker (Norm Donnelly trophy)
V. Best Team Player (Kevin Elliott Memorial trophy)
VI. Most Determined
VII. Most Improved
VIII. Best in Finals (only awarded if the team progressed through to the Grand Final)
17.THIRD EIGHTEEN TROPHIES
Trophies for the third eighteen team shall at the discretion of the third eighteen Selection Committee be awarded for:-
I. Best & Fairest (Ken Lupson trophy)
II. Runner Up
III. Third Best & Fairest
IV. Leading Goal Kicker (Rhys Mason trophy)
V. Most Determined
VI. Most Improved
VII. Most Promising
VIII. Best in Finals (only awarded if the team progressed through to the Grand Final)
18.SELECTION COMMITTEE AWARD
The Selection Committee is empowered to award a trophy to the Most Promising Player in the Club as determined by them.
19.COACH’S AWARD
The Coach of each team is empowered to award a trophy to the player of his choice who represented his team during the season.
20.SECRETARY
At the first meeting of the Management Committee following the Annual General Meeting the Secretary shall provide each member of the Management Committee with a copy of the Statement of Rules and these By-Laws.
21.AMENDMENT OF BY-LAWS
These By-Laws shall not be altered, varied added to or repealed unless a majority of those financial members present at an Annual General Meeting, or at a meeting specially convened for that purpose are in favour of such alteration, variation, addition or repeal.
