ROYAL Park has climbed to the top of a ladder that included every country football netball club in Victoria.
The Royal Park Football Netball Club was named the 2013 Worksafe AFL Victoria Football Netball Club of the Year, at the AFL Victoria Premiers Dinner at the Melbourne Hilton on Saturday night.

The award, judged among the 650 country football netball clubs affiliated with AFL Victoria Country, recognised Royal Park’s fundraising efforts, including its support for the Cancer Council Victoria and for Paul Moore’s efforts to raise money on behalf of the Blue Ribbon Foundation.
It also acknowledged Royal Park’s dramatic improvement on and off field that saw the Maryborough Castlemaine District club rise from a winless season and possible merger in 2012, to being a competitive and financially viable outfit in 2013 with a positive outlook for the future.
Royal Park FNC president Rob McLean said the club was proud to win an award that went beyond simply fielding successful and competitive football and netball teams each week.
“It was very much a team effort,” Mr McLean said.

“It recognises the work the committee has been doing all season, plus those players who gave up payments last year and the coaches, supporters, volunteers and sponsors who pitched in this year.
As the AFL Victoria Country Football Netball Club of the Year, Royal Park has won a Victor Sports prize package valued at $2000.
