The Guls young key forwards proved a handful for the parrots backline, taking a number of contested marks and scoring when they entered 50 most times. In greasy conditions, Leongatha struggled to find targets by foot and hand and were being shown how to be desperate for the football by a younger side.
A blistering last half of the second quarter led by Marc truscio, got the parrots back to within a goal at half time and it looked like the favourites were steadinging and getting into their groove. The opposite occurred when they came out after the main break with Warragul scoring six goals to none to put the game beyond doubt. Many of the goals scored in the third quarter were due to Leongatha's lack of discipline and frustration that the game wasn't falling the way it had been expected and half chances turned into certainties for the Guls.
After an ear bashing from assistant coach Daryl Vernon at three quarter time, Leongatha actually showed some heart and finished the game off somewhere to their potential to outscore Warragul 6 goals to 2. but it was all too late and the fourth loss of the season was handed to the parrots before the interleague break.
Some soul searching is needed to be done along with some hard work on the training track over the next two weeks. Some players may return for the round 8 clash against the undefeated Morwell side, but a drastic change in form and attitude is needed for the next match not to become a blow out.
