Great win last week against our arch rivals and hope our boys can continue today against Glencoe. Hope to see some great footy and remember to come back later for the band. Membership money is due and 100 club money needs to be paid to Darren Williams. Thank you to our sponsors.
Junior Colts- Great game from all our boys. Everyone played their roles and were rewarded with a big win against or arch rivals. We worked hard on our kicking and fitness at training during the week and it paid off in the game. The boys were asked before the game to be first to the footy and attack it hard, which to their credit, they did from the first bounce. Tom Sullivan played a Captain’s game and lead from the front. Riley Chant had another solid game and was helped out well with Tim Sullivan. The Zeitz brothers were lively up forward and Benny Milstead was excellent at attacking the ball. Good luck this week boys.
Senior Colts- An easy game the week before can certainly bring about false status and bad habits. Very evident in the first quarter with most players second to the ball and waiting for someone else to do the hard work. Quarter time saw the scoreboard, four goals to none, Kongorong’s way and we had the first use of the breeze. The second quarter saw a slightly better effort but Kongorong by this time had the game won. Fortunately the second half saw a lot better effort from all and bought some respect back to the scoreboard. At the end of the day there was a difference of two scoring shots which really showed how costly that first half was. A lesson I hope is well learnt especially with quality opposition coming up next week against Glencoe.
B Grade- Great effort this week boys playing against last year’s grand finalists, losing by less than 3 goals. Good work from the young blokes stepping up from Senior Colts last year. Also a great game from Izak, coming back from almost 2 years off with a knee injury. More goal kicking practice is in order again this week boys. Looking forward to Glencoe this week, A grade is already 2 games up on us boys, if we don’t pull our fingers out we’ll be paying for the footy trip with Jason “Hollywood” Dawe!
A Grade- Very pleasing effort this week travelling to Kongorong for the Lightbody Shield. Every year we play and it doesn’t seem to matter where each team is on the ladder, it’s always a good game. Best on Ground for the day and recipient of the John Rogers Medal went to Matty Martin. He just seemed to be everywhere. Next best went to the dog down back, Ryan Fox who doesn’t seem to miss a contest. Other award winners were Steve Noble, Ben O’Dine and Damien O’Dine, followed closely by Zack Williams who as a young boy straight out of Senior Colts seems to be a lot older than his 18 years. All in all it was very pleasing to go down there and get the 4 points. The way we moved the ball from the backline through to the forward line was at times, brilliant. As a team we seem to be ticking all the boxes but you can never say it’s perfect. With a few minor tweaks we move on to Glencoe and hopefully keep the winning way. Keep on kicking Bay and good luck for the rest of the year.
