The Burr had plenty of bright colours on Saturday from the sunshine to the yellow boots in the B Grade. The day started off well looking like another 4 out of 4 wins however that was not to be. Today we a hosting Robe where tonight the moon will be out for the “UNDY 500”. I hope you have your teams organised, clean underwear or simply ready to stay around and spectate!
Junior Colts – A game that was played in two halves! The boys played pretty ordinary in the first half but did enough to be still in the game. The second half was a completely different ball game. The voice level lifted and so did the intensity at the footy. This combined with better skill level helped us get another solid win. Tom Sullivan was his usual self with a swag of touches. Tim Sullivan rucked extremely well and went forward to finish with a couple of goals. Jordan Stark was aggressive at the ball all day. Riley Chant was a solid contributor. Jarred Mansell played his best game yet along with Jade Chant down back.
Senior colts – With a few personnel out we knew a team effort would be required to get over the line. It was very pleasing to see our shepherd count well up. We are now starting to look to protect the carrier rather than just receive it, let’s start making it second nature. The forward line is functioning well, with both Nick Allen and Johnny McBain showing great mental strength. The midfield with Zeitz, Jacko, and Starky providing plenty of run through the centre. Darcy and James Feast led the way in defence creating plenty of rebound. Lets keep the good work up with Robe sure to provide a tough challenge.
B Grade – Another very good effort by the boys to make it three in a row. Everyone put their hand up and played the best footy of the year against the top side. Benny Holmes was sensational in the ruck and was good to get a big win for Scotty Miller’s 200th. Let’s keep it going boys and get 4 in a row.
A grade – It was a hard day down at the Burr for us this week where we were certainly given an absolute lesson on how to move the ball quickly and run for your team-mates. We were systematically picked apart by a better team. Plenty to work on for the next few weeks. Congratulations to Jason Smith on his 200 games, it was such a pity we did not adopt his endeavour he has displayed over the recent years. Lets see how we react this week with a tough encounter against Robe.
