Some good wins at Tant in dodgy conditions. Maybe winter has now set in. A couple of exciting events last week. Congratulations to Sallyanne and Al Morgan on the safe arrival of Caleb. Also to James and Rachel McGregor on birth of their little boy, Cruize. Thanks to adding to the Port Mac footy club draft. Hope to see them kicking the ball around very soon!! On a serious note, we hope that all is going well.
Well done to Will, Ryan and Nobes for making the zone squad, a just reward for some excellent form, keep it up. Also we would like to congratulate Brodie Murdoch for being selected and playing in the Glenelg Under 16 side which made it to the Grand Final on Football Park a couple of weeks ago.
Did you see: Ben O’Dine’s huge bump or the speed wobbles he got after taking a mark? Will MacDonald’s aerial display of marking – Once again the big man shows us all how it’s done.
This week we take on Nangwarry at home which I’m sure will be a tightly contested match. Whatever the result, stick around at the club afterward and join in the fun with Flight Night! Remember also, to check out the PMFC website if you haven’t already for all the past budget notes and latest photos and if you have any photos you want to put on, contact the editor. Junior Colts – It was a slow start by the boys against Tantanoola but once we decided to use the best option, away we went. 17 goals, 6 behinds showed that we used the best option around goal and kicked very well. Sam Zeitz and Tim Sullivan both kicked 5. Riley Chant has been improving each week with his ruck work and has been giving us first use of the ball through Tom Sullivan and Jordan Stark. Jarred Feast played his best game of the season on the wing, getting plenty of touches. It’s a scratch match against Nanga’s this week so it has been a fantastic half of the year so far.
Senior Colts – We expected a tough game against a quality side and that is exactly what we got. As mentioned to the boys before the game, I was more interested in our talk and team spirit than the final score. The last couple of weeks has been really flat with definite drop in willingness to work and support each other. A team meeting and a couple of team building exercises seems to have everyone back on the same page. Our effort from the first bounce was so much better and it was obvious the boys were supporting each other. Playing against far bigger opponents, the boys certainly threw themselves in. It was an exceptional effort in the last half, Tant, 3 goals, us 2 goals. It just goes to show what can be achieved when team effort is applied. Let’s keep up the good work.
B Grade- After a very slow start in the first two and half quarters, we finally started to play some good football. Good work from the first gamers: Burls, Adam and a special mention to Rolphy with a goal from the back pocket. Good to see the numbers out at training. Let’s keep it up and make it 6 in a row this week.
A Grade _ A good day down at Tantanoola with the boys starting to play at the start of the season, plenty of run and talk for each other which shows the confidence in getting back to where we need it to be. Best players was Big Will, second best was Martos and Dexy was third best with 4 quarter effort other mentions going to Steven Devine and Dog who were good contributors also.
This week we are at home against the Nangwarry boys and hopefully with a 4 quarter effort, we can finish the first round with just one loss. Keep kicking boys.
