A good day out with three wins. It was wonderful to hear how two B Graders in Peter Cotton and Stevie Devine immediately put up their hand to volunteer to do the A Grade boundary when we were caught short. They are a shining example of how to be part of a club. Well done guys. An excellent night back at the club with the Red and Blue ball – a lot of fun had by all. Congratulations to the ‘winners’ – Best dressed – Matt (dunny paper) Sullivan, and Lisa Cram and also best dressed couple; Trev Taylor and Belinda Scott. Thank you to the organisers.
Also, thank you to the FOUR junior players and TWO adults who turned up for clean up last Sunday to clean the entire oval and change rooms. To ALL the players who didn’t bother to turn up, have a good look at yourselves; it is simply NOT good enough. Part of playing for the mighty Demons is doing your bit, when asked, so please lift your game when next time it is your turn.
Junior Colts: It was a lot better day for footy than last week. It was the first loss for the boys for awhile. But the way we started in the change rooms before the game, you could tell the boys were not switched on. A credit to the ‘Doo; they played really good footy. All the little things like the voice, shepherds and tackles just weren’t there for us. Best players for the day were Riley Chant, Jarred Feast, Ned Wilke, Jarred Mansell, Jordan Stark. Go you little Demons.
Senior Colts: With Johnny and Jacko out, it was always going to be a tough game. The last time was only a 3 point ball game so strong team effort was required. The boys played hard footy, lead by Nic Allen in the Ruck who is really lifting his work rate. Around the ground and proving dangerous up forward, Brodie continued playing a high standard and won plenty of the ball all over the ground and finished with four goals. James Feast and Matt Stark were effective in the middle and Tommy Lampard and Clem Smith were strong across CHF. Overall, it was a strong team performance in what was a vital win to keep finals chances alive. The same will need to be applied against Mount Burr this week.
B Grade: Good game today boys. Ten in a row now so we are in a good position so let’s keep it up and keep these good training numbers continuing. Best for the day were young Byrnesy (Matt Byrne), Numby (Scott Lucas), Big G (Gus McGregor), Muff Man (Izak Ransom), Big Hoss (Ben Holmes), Goody (Brendan Goodman) and Stevie Devine.
A Grade: Country football was at its best last week with a hard, tough contest produced by both sides. Our sides were very evenly matched, so we were always going to have to dig deep to come away with the win.
After going into the half time break even, it was always going to come down to an exciting finish. To come from 15 points behind at three quarter time to win by 12 points was a courageous, fantastic effort and the boys made their club very proud.
Big Will’s form, wherever Frenchy put him, was brilliant as was Ben O’Dines’ around the clinches. Dog’s (Ryan Fox) rebound out of defence was relentless, while Matty Martin and Dexel’s (Steve Noble) work ethic is exemplary to all their team mates. A magic win to help Willow (Ben Wilson) remember his 200th for the rest of his life.
This week we have another HUGE challenge with Mount Burr coming to our home ground today. Let’s make sure we give them the same as they gave us on their home ground. Go Demons!!
