What a wild and wintry day we had at Nangwarry! Still, three out of three was a good result and Nangwarry’s port supply was somewhat depleted by the end of the A Grade which caused a few sore heads, I’m sure!! Shame we couldn’t get the water boys to bring out the ‘goon’ as more than just a few A Graders were shivering as they walked off the ground!!
Also, a great day with our 100 club wind-up where once again the oysters and sheep went down a treat!! Well down to all the organisers for a great day and thank you to all who bought tickets – hope to see you next year!
A HUGE congratulations to all our BIG winners at the Senior league presentation with Big Will taking out the Mail Medal. At only 21, we are looking forward to seeing this guy get better and better. Other A Grade awards went to Big Frenchy for Coach of the Year and Jordan Murdoch for being the Rookie of the year. Also, well done to Matty Byrne for winning the B Grade medal and Peter Walter for his League Merit award. The club won The Champion Club Award which is credit to everyone that is a part of this great club!! Congratulations also to the netball girls, where Tamara Watson took out the A Reserve Best and Fairest and Sherie Richard was equal Runner-up in the B Grade. Congrats to the four A Graders in Toni-Lee, Amy, Lisa and Hayley for being selected in the Team of the Year.
Today is the big day- our first final berth in a few years. Let’s celebrate Trev’s milestone achievement in 100 games in fine style! Go the Demons!!
Junior Colts: Well done on your scratchy and thanks to those who played on the other side. A great year! Now the real stuff starts. Good luck boys and do your best today!
Senior Colts: Well done to Jacko, Lachlan, Brad and Justin Finnigan for going over and playing for Nanga’s. It was a good opportunity for the back men to play forward and on the ball. All players seemed to enjoy new roles and responded well by playing good footy. Despite the cold weather and the rain, the lads remained upbeat and keen. A lot of credit has to given to the Nangwarry players who keep fronting up and giving other teams a game. A great effort in what has been a long season. Not quite there for finals boys, bad luck. To your credit though, the last few weeks were super, and given the very little players we lose, bring on 2011.
B Grade: Good win to finish off. The season now starts the business end so let’s get everyone keen and have a good finals series. Best players were Kane on the wing, followed up by another good game by Stevie in the guts. Krusty on the back flank found a new spot and the old timers, Moods and Scotty did well. Let’s get on the track! Go Bay 2010. Footnote: Congratulations to Matty Byrne in winning the League B Grade Best and Fairest last Friday night! Well done!
A Grade: What started as a fairly slow day ended up being a pretty good win for the boys. In wet and slippery conditions, the games was anyones in the first half but as the game went on our fitness and midfield rotations got us over the line. Best on ground went to Big Woolley in his 250th game. The big fella was brilliant. The second best went to Trev – whho’s last month has been fantastic. 3rd best went to Benny O, who played with soreness for most of the day. Other mentions went to Jord Murds, Dexel and Will who all had good contributions in the wet and slippery conditions. Keep on kicking boys!!!
