Well, it was a pretty disappointing end to the day. All the factors were right for a great game; the weather held off, it was the coach’s 150th (sorry that the email given to budget didn’t get printed, but hopefully today!), and we had nearly a full squad, however the boys couldn’t seem to hit targets and didn’t seem desperate enough. Although not finished, the new viewing area was used on Saturday and it was well received. Many thanks MUST go to Mick Sullivan and his large numbers of helpers that have co-ordinated this project. We would also like to wish Rhys Timms all the best on his broken leg and hope he is able to recover soon. A big reminder to everyone – MEMBERSHIP payments are DUE!!! And if you are on a committee within the club, you must become a member!! Please see Cathie at the bar! Looks like the Back to School night was a lot of fun – thanks to all those who dressed up and had a great time! One more thank you – to Sharon Perryman, who at last minute dropped everything to help us out on Thursday night teas as we were short handed. We really appreciate the quiet behind-the-scenes things you do. Thanks once again. Go the Demons!!
Junior Colts: Good tough game again for the colts in wet conditions. To the boys’ credit, it was another good win. Their work rate and desperation at the ball was fantastic. It was very hard to pick best players due to an excellent team effort. Let’s keep up the good work boys. Best players were Tim Sullivan, Sam Zeitz, Keelan McClean, Kyall McClean, Lockie Tilley.
Senior Colts: Firstly thank you to Ben Walker the K'Doo coach who bought up four junior colts
and played without a bench enabling an 18 a side match. I hope those younger players benefited
from their experience and I know that all members of our side appreciated the extra game time
having only two on the bench, well done and thanks again Ben. Our boys shared the footy, and I
am very pleased with their team effort and unselfish play at present. Our efforts were not always
reflected on the score board in the first half due to inaccurate kicking, but that vastly improved
in the second half. Many players contributed throughout the day with all being rotated in a number
of positions. Thank you to those regular onballer types in particular Mal, Brodie, and Johnny for
giving up strong games to allow their team mates the opportunity to play key positions, something
I am sure will further improve the strength of the team. Also thanks to Tommy Lampard for sitting
out his second game, its great watching you play well in the A grade. Well done to Justin Finnigan,
Nick Driver, and Nathan Cawthorne all contributing well in their first game for season after
sitting out the first couple of games due to our current high numbers. Well done all, let’s make
sure we maintain our team ethic and be ready for a tough encounter against Mt Burr next week.
B Grade: “I am speechless on the team effort today, words cannot describe it…” Kane Blacksell. Top effort on writing the budget notes Kane; much appreciated. First time this year we have strung a full four quarters together. Good efforts in the ruck and up forward from Stevie Lew and Josh McNamara. Also good efforts in the guts from all our running players like Matt Ikin and Bed Goodman , who had a great first time back game. Great switching from you guys. Top team effort and great to see us kicking more goals than points!!!
A Grade: Extremely disappointing day for the senior side, maybe got slightly ahead of themselves
and were completely outplayed by a determined Kalangadoo outfit who got the jump early. Back to
the drawing board and some hard work needed in the next few weeks with some tough teams to come.
Better players were Ryan Fox who worked hard both down back and in the middle, Jamie Burley, who
is really started to play some really solid footy and Big Will was as reliable as ever, considering he
had 3 opponents for most the day. Brad, Trev and Brodie were solid contributors also. Heading to
the Burr this week should be a great challenge Go Demons, lets bounce back
