Great day at Tant, seeing us take four from four! Thank you to those who were able to support our sponsors in the South Aussie Hotel on the way home.
Junior Colts: Travelled to Tant this week and came home with a convincing win. It was a great team effort with everyone sharing the ball around. It was good to see the first year and smaller players getting amongst it, getting plenty of the ball. Thanks to Grady Hutchesson and Jarred Mansell for pulling on a Tant jumper for the day, both playing good footy. Grady got 6th best for Tant! Best players were Sam Zeitz, Scott Baulch, Tim Sullivan, Lockie Tilley, Jarred Feast. Thanks to Roger for a great umpiring job for the day. It’s good to hear encouragement and voice to kids as they are still only learning.
Senior Colts: It was a game the boys were looking forward to expecting a tough challenge being the only other undefeated team and a tough game it was particularly early. Our persistence, work rate did see things eventually go our way giving our forwards plenty of opportunity. Tom Latchford was a strong presence all game in the ruck winning best player. Darcy played a great game at centre half back providing great rebound against a quality opponent as did James Feast and Jordan Stark. Tom Sullivan, Joel Feast and Riley Chant continue their great form through the middle. Well done to the junior colts in Tim Sullivan and Sam Zeitz who provided goals and spark in the last quarter. Still the most pleasing aspect is the team spirit and unity despite constant changes with different players sitting out with A Grade duties.
B Grade: Mondo’s foul mouth has got him budget notes this week. He also got goal of the year but denied for it… Silly black duck!! Great game from the lads today. We came out firing and really turned it on. Good to see the boys can back it up from the races. Bretty Lew (Lewis) played an awesome game in the guts running in straight lines all day. Petey (Cotton)was all over the ball all day, always in and under. Was excellent to see Dawey (Jason), had the kicking boot on. Well done to George (Kane Blacksell) on his 50 games! Top games boys. Let’s keep this run going.
A grade: After a slow scrappy start both teams were relatively even until the last quarter where we kicked away to a hard fought win we had plenty of the ball but turned it over with silly skill errors. It was great to end our 3 game losing streak and will move forward from here and get back in the four. Will Macdonald was best yet again it’s a regular occurrence to see his name at the top of the best players list just controlled the centre square and chopped off plenty of Tant’s attack, Adam Taylor continued his superb form this year winning many clearances, was great to get Benny Mac back this week played some terrific footy and experience was a huge plus till the travel weary legs ran out in the last quarter, Brad Stephens had a quite first half but kicked a match winning four goals in the last quarter, Ducky was at his best hard hitting footy and finished with four may have to work on his goal kicking 10m out directly in front though. Our younger brigade Jordan, Johnny and Mal where again terrific. Host Nangwarry next week must win Go Bay.
