Icy but clear conditions greeted us at K’Doo and yet again we were able to come away with the four close wins. Well done to all of our footballers. Thank you to all of our players for wearing black arm bands to honour Mrs Dorothy Finlay who passes away recently. Mrs Finlay was a life member of our football club and we offer her family our condolences. Photos this week so be early and ready to pose for the club teams photos. This week two of Port Mac’s favourite sons in Brett Lewis and Matthew Byrne play their 50th senior game. Well done to you young fellas – looking forward to seeing you play the next 50! This week against Mount Burr; let’s keep the ball rolling on our way to finals footy. Junior Skit night tonight – support the young ones and next home game against Tantanoola (6th August) is Sponsors Day to thank all our valued sponsors.
Junior Colts: Good win today for the boys in excellent footy conditions. Welcome back Tom Zeitz after a few weeks off, and he picked up from where he left off with a great game on the wing. Congratulations to Dale Williams on his first goal and also played a solid game. Again the big fella, Tim Sullivan played an excellent game, being all over the ground, along with Sammy Zeitz running all day, creating play and getting plenty of kicks. A true work horse. Special mention to Will Rolph and Kyall McClean who both worked tiressly down back with not much getting passed them. Once again, great effort boys. Keep listening to Paul and continue to work hard. Well done. Best players were Tim Sullivan, Sam Zeitz, Tom Zeitz, Will Rolph, Kyall McClean and Dale Williams.
Senior Colts: Down at the K’Doo last week in absence of coach Pete “Limpy” Zeitz, the lads got off to a shocking start. They were lazy and just simply didn’t want the ball. After a very, very intense spray by coach Williams at ¼ time. The fellas came out and played an excellent quarter of footy. They used runners, voice was up and their skills were excellent. For the last 2 quarters, they went back to playing lazy unaccountable football. Best players were Latchy (Tom Latchford), who worked tirelessly all day, Benny Rolph, who played his best game for the club, Riley Chant worked hard in the guts all day, Tom Sullivan, Nic Allen and Benny Wilkes, rounded out the best.
B Grade: Firstly, thank you to Kalangadoo for the warm up footys. We started the game off well, then a disappointing middle finally to finish off strong in the last, goal kicking has let us down the last couple of weeks but overall we came out on top from a hard fought match. Jason Dawe, the one man ball magnet worked hard to earn about 20 possessions in the first 5 minutes! Best players were Jason Dawe, Gus McGregor, Paully Bosco, Matthew Sullivan, Shane Grosvenor and Chris Driver.
A Grade: Another four wins for the demons well done believe 5 weeks without a loss keep up the great work. The A grade had a fantastic start again kicking the first 5 goals only to have a second quarter lapse and let the Doo back in the game. With score even at 3 quarter time the boys were asked to dig deep and show some character like they have done for the past 5 weeks and again delivered for a hard earnt win against quality opposition. Best player Bazza (Ben)Odine having a fantastic year, Shauny Buchanon starting to hit his straps and showing again what a great player he is. Krusty (Justin McRostie) is playing the footy we know he is capable of and shows his versatility, Brodes (Murdoch)had a day out kicking 7 and providing a real handful for the Kalangadoo backline, Big Sharma (Will McDonald)again dominating all over the ground, Eddo (Michael Edwards)and Matty Byrne playing their roles very well. Tough couple of weeks coming let’s have a real crack and beat both the Burr and Robe. Go Demons!
