Four wins from four yet again. Well done to all teams. Thank you to Wendy and Gordon for organising the sponsor’s luncheon and everyone who was involved with the cooking and serving. Thank you to all the sponsors who attended and made the day such a success that it was. Tomorrow at 12 o’clock we have the opening of the viewing area and our volunteer’s day. This day is designed to give the club an opportunity to say thank you to our highly valued volunteers whom make our club so special.
Junior Colts: Good solid team performance at the Bay. First quarter was an even tussle between both sides with the Bays just in front at the first break. Great second quarter with numbers around the footy and great second efforts to clear the ball. Team work was fantastic as was our run with the footy with players prepared to use everybody. Tim Sullivan again dominated in the ruck along with Benny Milstead with a bit of zing on the wing. Sam Zeitz was tough all game with his ability to bring his team mates into the game especially Tommy Zeitz. Liam Kemp was solid in defence with his runs deep into attack. Rhys Timms has his first game back from a broken leg, kicked two goals- keep up the good work. Best players – Tim Sullivan, Ben Milstead, Samuel Zeitz, Liam Kemp, Blair Cutting.
Senior Colts: For the second week in a row we got to play near our full side again for a good part of the game. Our structures are getting sorted and we began to move the ball more fluently. To hold a quality side like Tantanoola scoreless in the first half reflected just how well our backline worked despite losing Johnny McBain only a few minutes after the game started. Darcy Kemp led the way in defence and did a great job in restricting their primary goal scorer for the day. Our midfield also got on top early with Jordan Zeitz and Tom Sullivan combining well with Nick Allen. Brodie Murdoch ended up with six goals in a half up forward, and Benny Wilke sparked with a couple of great running goals. By game’s end every team member contributed towards a strong win. Still, that game is history, and there were a couple of areas where we can definitely improve. Our delivery into the forward line was below par, and we probably didn’t capitalise on our high number of inside 50's. A couple of incidents where words or rough play directed at opposition players and supporters is also not acceptable, and in the end is only taking your focus off of the footy which ultimately hurts the team. Discipline, encouragement for your team mate, and work to get the footy or manning up will be the only acceptable actions from here in. Now is the time to direct all our actions in a positive manner towards improvement, so we will be ready for finals which are fast approaching.
B Grade: Great game this week after dropping last week to Robe. After a meeting during the week, the boys came out with the WANT to have a big win. The big men up forward were great finishing off the hard work done by the midfields. Jason Dawe kicked 4 goals and Steve Lewis kicked 4.
A Grade: After the first 3 teams winning the pressure was on the A grade coming up against a improved Tant we started very well getting away to a 30 point lead n the first quarter with the inclusion of the secret weapon Jordan Murdoch we increased our lead to 60 at half time which was pleasing the second half we took the foot off the pedal and cruised to a great win considering Tant really pushed us in the first round still not playing four quarters of football but showed some real quality passages of play which was pleasing. Best Players were Big Will, Benny O’Dine Josh McNamara worked really hard and took some great marks also finished with 2 goals Benny McGregor relished a different role down back and was almost impenetrable the two young guns Jordan Zeitz and Brodes (Murdoch) were also fantastic and breathe class. Nangwarry this week who are starting to push sides we will have to be switched on and play as we did in the first round. Go Demons another four wins.
