Mick Benham passed away peacefully over Christmas.
Mick started playing football at Silvan in 1946 and played a total of 313 senior games. It's widely thought that Mick played many more games but official records weren't able to be found.
Obviously a backman as he only kicked 89 goals in that time for the Cats, but a very good one at that!
Mick won the senior Best & Fairest on four occasions - in 49, 51, 52, 55 and also won the reserves B&F in 54 after playing only a handful of games that year. 1951 was a special season as Mick won the League B&F too!
1955 was an extra special season as that was a premiership year for the mighty Silvan Cats!Mick was also honoured with a Life Membership in 1954.
Without doubt Mick Benham is one of the most decorated players ever to pull on a Silvan guernsey!
From all at Silvan we send our sincere condolences to all Mick's family and friends.
RIP Mick
