There are many names synonymous with Lilydale Football Club - Ellis, Cruse, Fisher and of course Cruickshank.
This year we saw an amazing milestone achieved by the Cruickshank family – the three boys played 700 games for the Lilydale Football Club. Hec started playing in 1963 and played 267 games, Jamie started in 1996 has played 281games and Stephen started in 1997 and has played 186, so at the end of the 2015 season it is a total of 734.
This is an outstanding achievement of a father and two of his sons – and the club is very confident that this will continue with the grandchildren too.
All three are Life Members of the club and have coached teams, been a committee member and Hec has held office and is a member of the Team of the Century. Stephen and Jamie have won Premierships with the club and Jamie is also a Bowman Medalist. There are also Best and Fairest Awards for Hec and Jamie and various other team awards for all three.
The club also needs to acknowledge the contribution of Karen and Tanya. They may not have played a game for Lilydale but both have been involved at the club in major roles and are also Life Members of the club. Karen has won Best Clubperson awards in Senior and Junior Club and Tanya is also a Life Member of the EFL Trainers Association and still does work for them. The family tradition still continues with them being at every game, looking after Stephen and Jamie’s children and introducing Max to the ways of the Lilydale Football Club.
How lucky is the Lilydale Football Club to have this family involved at the club for over 60 years. This contribution portrays what the Lilydale Football Club is all about – COMMUNITY and we are blessed to have them. On behalf of everyone connected to the Lilydale Football Club we say THANK YOU.
