The day started well with the 19’s recording a solid 79 point victory, our fifty for the season. A big game from James Box who kicked six and Liam Hauser who bagged four. Our best on the day was Fin Hanna. The 19’s sit nicely in fourth spot on the ladder.
The reserves came up against another strong opponent in Donvale in a contest that was very close all day. The boys took it right up to their opponents but went down by just 9 points. We remain firmly in the hunt for finals with a 5-3 win loss record. For Surrey, Luke Jackson againbooted three and Tom Ross was named our best and is having a great season.
The senior team, with former AFL players Ben McGlynn and Lindsay Gilbee lining up for Surrey, again got off to a slow start to be down by four goals at one point in the first quarter. To the boys credit fought hard to narrow the lead to just a goal at the first break. Donvale again kicked away in the second quarter and held a handy lead at the main break. The game tightened up in the second half and Surrey got within a kick in the last quarter. Donvale were able to steady and were eventualwinners by 18 points. Gilbee kicked four and McGlynn three and our best was once again Bede Briscomb who is having a great season.
A big call out this week to Ryan Higgins who makes his senior debut tomorrow, and to Liam Doidge, Graeme Johns and Ryan Kennedy all returning from injury.

Sponsors
Our sponsor of the week is Holmesglen Institute of TAFE – Home of the Trades.
The building and construction industry is very much alive and well in Australia (employing around 9% of the population), and Holmesglen is the most comprehensive provider of building courses in Victoria. Our building and construction courses range from pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships through to diplomas, advanced diplomas, degrees and postgraduate studies.
We work with some of the largest building and construction industry bodies in Victoria, including the Australian Institute of Building, Building Designers Association of Victoria, Australian Institute of Building Surveyors, Electrical Trades Union, and many more.
It’s little known that it can take up to 27 separate trades and services to build a house, and many more to complete a large commercial project. With this in mind, we ensure that students understand all aspects of all time-honoured trades and are taught the skills that are right for industry. Students have access to over 25,000 square feet of trade floor space, as well as the latest technologies in building design and 3D printing.
So, whether you are interested in a trade, running your own building business or managing large construction projects, Holmesglen – the Home of the Trades, have a range of courses to suit any student’s needs.
