The Active Care Physio Bayside Bombers slumped to another shock defeat on the weekend going down embarrassingly to a much improved Griffith Moorooka Roosters at Griffith Uni.
The Bombers on paper looked solid, key forwards, inform onballers and a strong defensive line had all looking to put another win on the board, the script didn't tell Griffith Moorooka that as the first quarter saw the Roosters score 2 unanswered goals, and the Bombers just managed 3 points. No need to concern ourselves yet, quarter time and only a goal and a half behind, well have these Roosters for dinner the Bombers thought, but remember, nobody told the Roosters that!
Bring on the half time siren, Roosters kicked nothing, Bombers 1.6. All the play to the Baysiders, just no finishing, just like building a house without a roof. Scotty Houston into the forward line was the call, Rookie at CHF moving like a wounded buffalo and nobody could kick straight, 1.6 was a deplorable effort by the Bombers, has to be better things to come ion the second half. Bombers up by 3 points at the long break.
The second half was not much better than the fist, The captains call before the first bounce was to keep it away from the man mountain Moorooka had in the ruck. By 3/4 time the Bombers had successfully handed this big bloke BOG. The Bombers ability to kick to this bloke was unreal, they couldnt hit the side of a barn with a shotgun in the forward line but was able to kick the footy at this bloke all day.The best the Bombers could muster was 1.0 to Moorooka 1.5. A real spectacle this game has become, the sight of the girls arriving for their game was the highlight so far.
The siren sounded to start the last quarter and end the game for the Bombers. The big occasion was a foregone conclusion as the Bombers continuously turned the ball over to the opposition and gave it away when they won the contest through miss use of the ball. This was a train wreck of a performance and when Troy Buckley and Paul Magher both left the ground within the the first 5 minutes of the quarter with leg injuries, the Bombers bags were packed up. Roosters winners by 15 points.” Not a pretty performance by the boys today” Football Manager Darren Smith said after the game, “I think the boys will be embarrassed today by their performance”
