The Rathbone Engineering Bayside Bombers travelled to Maroochydore last weekend to take on the might of the Sunshine Coast in Round 5 of the Masters AFQ comp.
The season so far has been promising for the Bombers with two-two win-loss statistics.
The Bayside boys were on a hiding to nothing travelling to the Coast with several players out due to previous commitments.
The game was decided on the coin toss when skipper Russell Crowe won the toss, panicked and kicked against the wind.
The Coast boys then slammed on eight unanswered goals to have the game sewn up at the first break.
This brought some stern words from Coach Tait as the Baysiders played Taits paddock in the second half stemming the flow from the Coast boys as Crowe, Brad Carr and Tony Eames repelled many advances.
The Bombers pushed forward with a possession game but broke down going into their forward fifty due to lack of numbers.
A late goal to Craig Weiland put the Bombers on the scoreboard and it was an even second quarter for the Bombers.
After halftime Darren Smith moved into the ruck pushing Pommy John up forward to create an option.
Smith was a bright light on a dark day as rain started falling and the locals took off again.
There was not much the likes of Paul Magher and Steve Hazell could do as with the aid of the breeze the Coast boys kicked four goals to nil.
But the Bombers would not give in as Tait, Luke McDonald and Sean Edmonds continued to win the footy and push forward giving Big Mike Rander plenty of goal kicking options, for which he only kicked one.
Final score: Sunshine Coast 18.15.123 def Bayside 2.5.17.
Goals Rander 1, Weiland 1, Best Tait, Edmounds, Smith, Crowe, Eames
