The Dockerty Cup Final will be held this Sunday at Lakeside Stadium between NPL Melbourne Knights and the impressive State League South Springvale. With the Dockerty Cup to be play lets Rewind in Black and White with our clubs 1st Dockerty Cup Finals appearance in 1952.

The History of the Black and White in the Dockerty Cup stands at 7 Runner Up and 6 Winners Trophies. The Juventus squad of 1952 was the first to reach the final during the year that saw them bring the first Championship to the club. The opportunity presented itself to complete the State League 1st Division championship and the Dockerty Cup trophy.

Juventus qualified for the final beating Moreland, Apollo, Footscray City and Polina. The next opponent was Brighton a quality outfit who finished 2nd the year before in the 1st Division 1951, while we gained promotion in 1951.

The Final was staged in front of 5000 spectators at Olympic Park on Saturday October 4th. Unfortunately Brighton was to strong scoring an impressive victory 5 – 0.

The team of 1952 is down in our history as the 1st team to reach the Dockerty Cup Final. It was until five years later that saw Juventus reach the final that resulted in another runners up and continued the year 1958 before reaching the 1960 final and finally winning the Dockerty Cup.
