MFC March On!

Tonight MFC dealt a crushing 8-1 defeat to last years premiers, Merrimac. In a game that MFC dominated from start to finish the victory never looked in doubt. At 2-0 MFC were in cruise control and moving the ball slickly around the park. MFC's cause was helped by Merrimac's indiscipline who had two players sent off before the break. Again it was a superb team performance with each player winning the individual battles and getting on top of their opposite number. Goals were shared across the team with 2 each from Troy Ruthven, Luke Morley and Chris Garside whilst Simon Hurcombe and Bryce Tory also chipped in with one each. Joel Saye and Mathew Peate were once again outstanding in defence and never gave Merrimac's attack a look in. It was a great way to bounce back after the very tough news during the week that one of our stand out performers of the season so far, Alex Thelwall, suffered a season ending knee injury. That one was for you Alex! Everyone at MFC wishes you all the best and know you will come back better than ever. Ressies once again played some excellent football with 2 goals in the first half to lead comfortably at the break but unfortunately let Merrimac off the hook with 2 late goals from them forcing a 2-2 draw.
