Murwillumbah put on a masterclass - MFC 5 Southport 0

Simon Hurcombe

In a game where MFC barely got out of 2nd gear it was still brilliant football to watch as our first team toyed with their opponents and kept possession for very long passages of play. The writing was on the wall early on for Southport as MFC eased into a two goal lead courtesy of goals from Simon Hurcombe and the competition's leading goal scorer, Luke Morley. Southport are a proud, hardworking team and never gave in but the quality of play by MFC was just too much on the day. Second half goals scored by Troy Ruthven, Joel Saye and a second from Simon Hurcombe finished things off and gave the good local crowd an excellent spectacle with a lot to look forward to over the remainder of the season. Once again our defence kept a clean sheet! Next week MFC is away to Mudgeeraba which will be a completely different proposition as they have been on an excellent run pushing up from 6th in the table to now sit 3rd.
