After last week's superb demolition of Palm Beach with goals from Justin Tannock (2), Chris Garside and Troy Ruthven, MFC took on Broadbeach in a top of the table clash down at Jim Devine Field. The setting was perfect for football after a very large crowd enjoyed the opening of the new clubhouse. They were not to be disappointed with high quality and intense football from the start. 

There were chances at either end with both sides unlucky not to hit the lead. Murwillumbah eventually began to assert their dominance and played their usual slick possession football, constantly looking to breakdown the stubborn Broadbeach defence. It finished nil nil at HT with the game not really getting into full swing as both sides continued to feel each other out. The second half produced better quality football especially from Murwillumbah with Luke Morley, Bryce Tory and Troy Ruthven coming very close to opening the scoring. 

It however fell to the competition's leading goal scorer, Luke Morley, to break the deadlock with an absolute thunderbolt of a left strike form the corner of the area to put MFC ahead 1-0. The big crowd on hand went wild and sensed another famous victory against another one of the big guns of the Gold Coast. However it was not to be as just minutes from time Broadbeach equalised with a bizarre and cruelly deflected goal that left our outstanding keeper, Nathan Wilson, with no chance. It was not to be for MFC today but heads were not down as their fantastic record remained intact. There is also one eye on a further match up later in the season during the finals series.
